By the time patients leave to return home, they should be able to walk and be reasonably self-reliant, able to do most things they need to at home. As joint replacements are not fully stable until after the first three months, patients are instructed on how to carry on with the various activities in their lives.
All patients will leave hospital with a full medical report in English including up-to-date details of their progress. The reports are then forwarded to each patient’s GP.
